NEW LEVEL OF INTERVENTION FOR PIAPOT FIRST NATION | THIRD PARTY MANAGEMENT TO MANAGEMENT ACTION PLAN

Effective October 1, 2011 Piapot First Nation transitioned out of Third Party Management to a 5-year Management Action Plan approved by Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. The key areas monitored and measured on a monthly and quarterly basis within this new level of intervention are Financial Management and Governance. The overall goal is an increased level of capacity along with effective governance, transparency and accountability to ensure Piapot First Nation overall deficit is reduced.

ADMINISTRATION

The Administrative Office is fully accountable to the Piapot First Nation Leadership, Membership and to the First Nation’s funding agents through development of policies that are necessary to ensure financial accountability.

Community on-reserve band meetings are held annually to present approved fiscal year budgets and the consolidated audits to the membership to ensure community awareness of band operations.

COMMUNICATIONS

As of January 2014 Piapot First Nation website has been available for its members to enhance and maintain effective communication to its membership.
